How to sew a poncho yourself from oilcloth
To sew a raincoat you will need:
• Beautiful oilcloth, you can pick up different colors in the shops for sewing.
• Oilcloth of a different color for lining.
• A body shirt that suits you at the time with a hood and a jacket with a long sleeve.
• Scissors.
• Pins.
• Sewing machine.
• Centimeter.
We will not take measurements, because We will sew on the things that we wear. We put a jacket with long sleeves on a sheet of oilcloth folded in half and cut off the edges in a semicircle. From the semicircular edge to the end of the sleeve should remain ~ 10 cm on each side. From the bottom of the sweatshirt to the edge of the oilcloth there should be about 20 cm or more, depending on how long you want to get a raincoat.
Now in the place of the neck on the jacket we make a hole. Holes for the hands are measured exactly along the sleeve. We apply it to the edge of the oilcloth and in the place where the shoulder is, we begin to cut off the round hole a little more than the neck.
Cut the oilcloth from the neck to the bottom on one side.
From a rectangular piece of oilcloth we make a sleeve.
We sew its inner sides.
With pins, we attach the hole and sleeve together, we sew them.
In the same way we sew the upper part of a raincoat from more elegant oilcloth.
We measure a hood on a body shirt. From the oilcloth we cut the blanks ~ 15 cm above the hood and ~ 10 cm wider. We sew the two parts together along the rear edge. Sew it to the neck of the outer part of the raincoat.
We also sew a hood for the inside of the raincoat and sew it to the neck.
We insert two parts of the raincoat one into the other. Sew along the bottom edge, the edges of the sleeves and the edge of the smell and hood.
In the upper part we make a loop and sew a large beautiful button.
That's all, our raincoat is ready, you can go for a walk in the rain.
