Traditional-style Fabric Gift Bags Instructions DIY step-by-step tutorial.
Such a package
will look much more effective than a normal gift bag, and if you sew it
from a laminated fabric, you will get a great lunch pack that you can
wash.
You will need:
Cotton (two kinds)
Thick hair elastic
Holniten (4 pieces)
Large button
Cut two pieces, front and back.
At the hair band, cut the tip and sew, as shown in the photo.
Stitch the sides of the front panel.
Then - the lining.
Attach the
lining inside, so that both parts are the wrong sides outward, and
stitch, leaving a small area unscrewed for eversion.
Turn out on the front side and manually sew the left hole with a hidden seam.
Thread the lining inside.
Secure the corners with holniten.
Sew a button.
Done!
when you sew the bags together when they're inside out, how do you get them the right way, because i'm trying to understand but there is no way that you can get the bags with the right side on the outside if they're all sewed. i honestly don't understand, could you explain?
ReplyDeletesee the opening of on the gray lining. You pull it through there.
DeleteThere is an opening in the gray lining. You sew them together with the "good sides" of each part touching each other. Sew all the way around the top, and then you pull the whole thing through itself in the hole in the gray lining, and it works
DeleteLovely idea. What are the little things that you put in the corners?
ReplyDeleteWould really love an answer to this too.
Deleterivets i believe.
Deletethey are called grommets
DeleteThey're Holniten
Deletelove the bag, but what do you use to make the bags so stiff?
ReplyDeleteI've made similar bags using medium weight canvas for the outer layer it seems to work well.
DeleteEasy and sweet! Thanks
ReplyDeleteAt the bottom of the bag, at the seam of the bottom, on the sides, I prefer to make a square of 5 (or 6 or ...) but a square rather than a rectangle, so the seam just falls opposite the Iron folding and the stitch is sharper..the cut also.
ReplyDeleteGrazie!!!
ReplyDeleteThis is an excellent litter bag for the car!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful idea ...i needed ...thanks alot
ReplyDeleteMerci beaucoup je vais en faire pour mes invités à Noël ils seront ravis grâce à vous.merci merci
ReplyDeleteSuch a great idea! I am also going to try with heavier wrapping paper and a glue gun for Christmas presents!
ReplyDeleteCoucou
ReplyDeleteBonne idée les rivets dans les coins
Merci pour vos tutos très sympa
bonne journée
Hey,this is gorgeous and would love to make one.How would you keep your food hot/cold? And what about if something spills? (if using as a lunch bag)
ReplyDeletemy first bag didn't look like the pictures, and I figured out the problem was right after I had stitched the sides of the front panel. how do you go from the place it was in when stitching the sides to the other part???(without having the seams in the front)
ReplyDeletecan this work without the holnites? i can't seem to find them but i do really want to try making this bag. Are there maybe any other things i can do instead of the holnites to strenghten the corners?
ReplyDeleteMaybe sew a few stitches in the corners, with matching thread 🤷🏻♀️
DeleteI was wondering the exact same thing, have you found a solution ?
ReplyDeleteBellissimo il tuo lavoro
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't work well for lightweight cottons. I also found it necessary to shorten the hair tie or end up with an oddly folded-near-in-half bag. Eventually I rejected the hair tie idea and made little tote handles instead.
