What you’’ll need
Fabric wide 110 cm
for exterior 70cm
for lining 80cm
Heavy weight interfacing
Light weight interfacing or warm&natural.
A zipper
and the necessary sewing supply
On the exterior fabric, the lining and the heavy weight interfacing mark and cut 2 pieces 44x35 cm
With a zigzag-stitch sew together heavy weight interfacing and exterior fabric.
On the exterior fabric and the lightweight interfacing (or warm&natural) mark and cut 2 pieces 44x24 cm. From the lining 2 pieces 44x25 cm.
Prepare the pockets with the pieces. Take 1 exterior fabric, 1lining and 1 lightweight interfacing.
Make a sandwich. The fabrics are right sides together and the interfacing is facing the wrong side of the exterior fabric.
Match the lenght and sew at 0,5 cm (remember that the lining is bigger so not all sides match).
Turn right side out and press the seam. Right side out, match the sides of the pocket and you’ll create a little border, press and sew at 0,5 cm.
Prepare the handles Mark and cut from the lining 2 pieces 8,5x75 cm.
From the heavyweight interfacing 2 pieces 7x72 cm.
Fold and press the edges of the lining around the interfacing. Fold in half and sew all around.
Place the handles at 10 cm from the sides and 14 cm from the upper edge. Sew in place.
Repeat for both handles.
Pin the pocket as in picture. At 5 cm from the lower edge. Sew at 0,5 cm from the pocket edge.
Repeat with the other pocket.
Fold the pocket, press and sew at 0,5. Repeat with the other pocket.
Sew at 0,5 cm. With a zigzag-stitche secure the sides of the pocket to the main panel of the bag.
Repeat in both panels.
Sew and place pockets as you like.
Open the zipper and pin one half to one of the main panel. Repeat also for the other panel and half zipper.
Place the lining on the main panel right sides together. Pin the lining, the zipper and the main panel.
Sew using the zipper foot. Repeat also for the other lining.
The zipper is attached!
Right sides together match the edges of the main panels and baste with pins Repeat this step also for the lining.
Sew the sides and the bottom. Remember to leave an opening, for turning, 10-15 cm at the bottom of the lining.
With a ruler measure 4,5 cm from each side of the corners (both lining and main panels) and mark a 4,5x4,5 square.
Press the edges as in this picture, match and pin the seams (bottom and side) and sew.
Repeat for all 4 edges.
Cut at 0,5 cm from the seams. Repeat for all 4 edges.
Turn right side out from the opening. Slide the lining inside the exterior of the bag.
Press the seams and sew at 0,5 cm around the zipper. Close the opening on the lining with little hand stitches.
The bag is finished!
