How to Sew a Fabric Makeup Brush Holder. Free Sewing Tutorial.
Supplies Needed:
18 x 15 inch Piece Outer Fabric
18 x 15 inch Lining
17 x 4 1/2 inch Piece of Fabric
Coordinating Thread
36 inch Long Ribbon
Sewing Machine
Take your 17 x 4 1/2 in piece and fold (long ways) over an 1/4 inch and iron, then fold another 1/4inch and iron. Then sew. You could also use a 17 x 9 inch piece of fabric and fold in half long ways with the wrong sides together. It will work the same both ways. I just used less fabric.
Lay your lining piece out flat. Take your 17 x 4 1/2 in piece and place it on top of the lining with the right sides facing up. Line up the raw edges at the bottom, but only pin the sides. It should look like the picture below.
Go grab all your make up brushes. We're gonna make this to fit your brushes. Make up artists have like a million brushes. I have like ten. Take your largest brush and slip it under the top fabric. Press down and pin at the top and bottom.
Repeat the pinning process with the rest of your brushes. I slipped a tweezer in there too. I'm wild. I know.
Remove your brushes. Sew straight lines where you pinned. If you'd like to draw straight lines using a fabric pen you can. I used my fabric's pattern for a guide and it came out great.
Take your ribbon and fold it in half. Measure two inches up from the "brush holding fabric" and pin the ribbon fold to the raw edge.
Take your outer fabric and pin to the lining with the right sides facing. Tuck your ribbon inside and make sure you can see all your pins for easy removal. We don't wanna bust any needles.
Leave an opening for turning at the top.
Clip the corners.
Turn it right side out. Topstitch it, making sure you close the opening. Load it up, roll it up, and tie it up! Your done!
Fun Make up Brush Fact: You don't have to buy expensive brush cleaner. You can use baby shampoo. It works great.
