I wanted to make a little pouch for a gift I was sending to some friends and figured while I was at it, why not make a tutorial out of it! There’s got to be another Lined Pouch Tutorial somewhere in the world wide web and I’m sure someone knows of a better way to make one but this is how I do it…
Materials:
- fabric
- sewing machine
- iron
- button
Procedure:
Figure out the size of pouch you’d like…I took the measurements of the gift I wanted to cover and added 1/4″ for seam allowance. I wanted the pouch flap to be a different fabric so I made sure my measurements accounted for the extra piece of fabric.
Sew the sides up with the right side of the fabrics facing in.
Make tiny incisions from the edge of the fabric to the seam at the top of each piece.
Turn one of the pieces right side out and insert into the other pocket.
Align the two flaps (right sides facing in and side slits matching) and sew together along the edge. Sew along the front edge as well.
With a seam ripper, take out the stitching on one of the sides and turn entire pouch right side out. Sew along open edge to close again.
Push lining into pouch and iron in place.
Add a button and button hole if you so desire (worst part of the procedure if you ask me!) and call it a day! Hope you liked!
