Here's my Contrast Fabric Wash Bag Sewing Tutorial. I lined the wash bag with a waterproof lining and used a oilcloth fabric for the base so that it was super practical!
You will need...
snow days, winter wonderland collection fabric in blue
stone spot oilcloth
pu coated nylon waterproof fabric
1 nylon closed end zip (20cm long)
stitched ribbon (10cm length)
How-to step by step...
Step 1
Start by cutting out the following pieces as above, including one panel of lining 22cm wide by 22cm long.
Step 2
Stitch the fabric panels together using a 1cm seam allowance, ensuring that if you are using a one way print (ie only looks good in one direction) make sure that the are placed in different directions as the snow print fabric in the above illustration.
Step 3
Place the waterproof lining panel, right sides together with the outer stitched panels and using a 1cm seam allowance stitch them together along the short sides.
Step 4
Turn the panels so the right sides face outwards. Top stitch the lining to the outer panels along the seams.
Step 5
Pin the zip to the top edge, so that the teeth are just showing. Stitch in place.
Step 6
Repeat with other side of zip, so zip is enclosed at the top panels.
Step 7
Turn the washbag the wrong way out, and stitch down the side seams, using a 1cm seam allowance. Pinking shear or overlock the raw edges.
Step 8
Cut a square of fabric from each side of the base as above illustration. 2.5cm x 2.5cm. Then rearrange the corner so that the bottom and the side seam are aligned, using the raw edges as a guide. Using a 1cm seam allowance stitch a straight line across the base.
Step 9
Turn the wash bag right side out and thread the ribbon through the zip pull, knot ends and voila!
