Instructions
With your fabric right sides together, cut out two mirror image pieces at once from the cactus template. You can do this with a rotary cutter and mat, or just sewing scissors.
With right sides together, sew at a ½” seam all the way around. Leave a space for turning at the bottom and pivot at the corners.
Next, clip the corners and notch the curves. Clipping and notching ensures that your cactus maintains its shape without puckers and lumps.
Clipped corners:
Notched curves:
Since the cactus has a lot of curves, you will be notching almost all of it. Only the sections where the “arms” meet the body need to be clipped. Make sure not to cut through any of your stitching.
Turn your cactus right side out. You can use a knitting needle, turning tool, or pencil for this. To make sure your curves are rounded, run the tip of your tool around all the seams (gently, but firmly) to get the right shape.
Stuff firmly with fiber-fill. Hand sew opening closed with a ladder stitch.
Enjoy your new boho creation!
