I really enjoy sewing these diaper bags and then giving them as gifts. It's also pretty quick :) Have fun sewing :)
1. First cut out the fabric pieces:
Outer fabric + possibly fleece: 27 x 34 cm
Inner fabric: 27 x 34 cm
2 x flap: 27 x 24 cm
Closer + possibly fleece: 14 x 18 cm
Seam allowance is already included!
You will also need KamSnaps or buttons and possibly woven ribbon/applications.
2. when you have cut everything, iron each piece properly so that it is cleaner when sewing together later.
Fold the two flap pieces and iron over them too. The flaps then each have a size of: 27 x 12 cm.
3. If your fabrics are very thin, reinforce them with fleece and iron this on.
4. if you want to decorate the diaper bag with with woven ribbon or similar, sew this onto the this onto the fabric now. I have only embellished the clasp with embellished with a woven ribbon.
5. take the fabric for the closer and fold it longways right sides together. Now close the long side with a close the long side with a straight stitch.
6. now place the sewn seam in the center. It should look like this.
7. close ONE short side again with a straight stitch with a straight stitch.
8. if you wish, trim the seam allowance with with zigzag scissors.
Trim the corners so that they look look nicer afterwards. Now turn and the closer is finished.
9. now place all parts on top of each other on top of each other. Inner fabric first, right side is top.
10. then place the ironed flaps on both sides. The closed side facing each other.
11. now place the closer in the center center. The decorated side faces upwards.
12 Now only the outer fabric is missing. Right side is at the bottom.
Pin everything in place so that nothing slips when sewing.
13. now sew everything together a foot wide together.
Attention: Do not forget the forget! Leave approx. 7 cm open at the bottom between between the flaps.
14. if you wish, trim again with the scissors and trim the corners. the corners.
15 Now it looks like this
16 Now turn the whole thing over and close the opening by hand closed
17. attach the KamSnap or button.
The diaper bag has an unfolded size of 25 x 33 cm. (without fastener) It fits approx. 3 diapers and a travel pack of wet wipes (30 pcs.) inside.
