Tutorial: Make Up Brush Roll

Tutorial: Make Up Brush Roll

There are countless variations on how you can sew something like this. I'll show you mine. :-) And there are also countless uses. Here you will see how to sew a roll for make-up brushes from the pencil roll.

Tutorial: Make Up Brush Roll

Materials required: 3 different fabrics, padding, (size approx. 20 x 40 each) some elastic, some felt, bias tape approx. 130 cm, a button, fabric remnants, ribbon for decoration.

Lay out all the brushes and utensils that are to go into the roll.

Now draw the positions of the quilting lines on the pattern.

Fold the fabric for the pocket lengthwise and iron. If desired, sew on the decoration or ribbon.
And now place the layers on top of each other: at the bottom with the wrong side facing up, the outer fabric; then the padding, then the inner fabric and finally the bag.

Pin all layers securely. Transfer the markings from the pattern to the fabric.

Stitch through all layers.  Everything is now nicely stitched...

Now lay the pattern on again and cut the curves. I leave a margin of approx. 1 cm, as otherwise the largest brush would stick out a little.

Now fold the bias tape open and pin and sew it in place, right sides together, as shown in the picture above, just below the first crease.

Now shorten the overhang slightly and

fold in the bias tape, pin it to the outer fabric and sew it on close to the edge.

Sew on an elastic band in the middle and cover with a flower.

Roll up the roll with the contents and determine the position for the fastening button. Sew on the button, done!
