DIY Drawstring Backpack | I very much agree with the gym bag renaissance. pretty cool, pretty practical and, above all, pretty quick to make.
mine like this ::
⦿ cut 1 rectangle of 40 x 100 cm & 2 small squares of 6 x 6 cm from slightly firmer fabric and finish all edges.
⦿ for the cord loops, stitch each of the two squares together once, right sides facing, and turn.
⦿ sew the drawstring :: to do this, first mark the long sides of the large rectangle 10 cm from the shorter fabric edge (i.e. 4 times in total) (wrong side facing up) and topstitch the seam allowance in this area. press the two shorter fabric edges over approx. 1 cm each, fold the edge down to the marking and topstitch in place using a straight stitch.
⦿ turn the rectangle, right side facing upwards. fold the two cord loops together crosswise once each and attach them about 2 cm to the left of the middle of the long edges of the large rectangle so that the closed loop side is facing inwards. fold the large rectangle in the middle so that the edges of the fabric are exactly on top of each other and sew the long sides together - starting directly below the drawstring.
⦿ turn the bag over and thread the cords (2 pieces of 150 cm each) :: through one of the two tunnels at the top right, back through the other and down through the loop; start with the second piece of cord at the top left and thread exactly the wrong way round. knot and you're done.
