Summer tutorial - small pouch, cell phone pouch, pencil pouch, etc... Today I'm going to show you step by step how I sew my cell phone pouches with zippers. They are really quite simple and also very variable.
I'm deliberately not giving you a pattern, because everyone should choose their own desired size. This is all about the “how”.
You can make the pouch as small as a cell phone, or even smaller for a couple of small patches, a little longer for a couple of colored pencils, or as big as the two pouches I made for my boys...
Material required:
Beautiful cotton, baby corduroy or oilcloth fabric
Zipper on the meter and 1 tab
Volume fleece H630
Possibly ribbons, appliqués for decoration
Possibly Stylefix
Cut out the desired bag size including seam allowances from a sheet of paper (or a piece of cardboard if you are using it several times).
1. cut 2 pieces each from the lining fabric, outer fabric and H630
2. iron the H630 onto one piece of outer fabric at a time
3. glue a piece of Stylefix to the side where the zipper will go, then place the zipper on the outer fabric with the right sides facing, place another piece of Stylefix on the back of the zipper and place a piece of lining fabric on top. Press everything together firmly and sew on with the zipper foot.
4. fold the whole fabric over so that you can see the zipper and sew the second pieces of outer and lining fabric exactly the same on the second side of the zipper.
5. lay down like this... and insert the zipper tab
6. important: now open the zipper a little, so that it is still closed on both sides and you can sew over it, but enough so that you can still turn the bag at the end (if you forget to open the zipper before sewing it together, it will be difficult ;-))
7 Now lay the two outer fabrics and the two lining fabrics on top of each other, right sides facing and sew all the way around. Leave a turning opening in the lining fabric. Cut the corners back to 1 mm before the seam.
8. turn the bag and close the opening with the sewing machine (only for lazy people like me hihi) or by hand.
9. put the lining in the pocket and you're done!
TIP:
The outer fabric can also be put together from several fabrics and decorated with ribbons, appliqués, velour motifs etc. BEFORE sewing.
Have fun sewing it!
