DIY Shoulder Purse Bag | How to make Fabric Handbag Free Sewing Pattern & Tutorial
Materials:
Plain and printed canvas
25cm zipper
2 cm webbing
2 carabiners
2 semicircular rings
1 magnetic clasp
Here we must add a piece of Velcro
1. We cut the pieces for the bag
Then I decided to add an inside pocket, so I would have to cut one more piece of the same size as the outside pocket.
2. Sew (right sides together) the two fabrics of the pocket. Turn and stitch along the edge.
3. Align one outer piece and one lining piece, right sides together. We insert the zipper
4. We sew with the special pin for zippers.
5. When you reach the end, open the zipper to make sewing easier.
6. Repeat the same on the other side. Fold over the outer fabric and stitch the starting stitch, taking care not to sew through the lining fabric.
7. We add an inside pocket
8. Mark the center (width) of the plain fabric and place the magnetic fasteners. One under the zipper and the other where we want the bag to fold.
9. Pin the outside pocket on the printed side. In the end I decided to add velcro to close it.
10. Place the outer sides and the lining right sides together. We place the rings, with some ribbons that we will have sewn, at 14cm.
Sew all around leaving a 10 cm opening at the bottom of the lining for turning.
Do not forget to leave the zipper open!
I skipped a step! but it's easy, make two strips of patterned fabric (sew and twist) 2cm wide and 6cm long to pass the rings through.
11. Fold and sew the 4 corners at 2cm from the edge.
12. We turn the whole bag and sew by hand the opening we left for turning.
13. We sew the carabiners to the ribbon and add a pin on one side to shorten the strip.
On the front:
I have added a piece of ribbon to the ziplock.
On the back: A piece of the same tape to hide the Velcro seam.
